Blot the area dry by placing a couple of paper towels or tissues. The final step is to discover if your pet has a medical reason for the soiling or if the pet just needs to be re-trained. To remove the odor, sprinkle some amount of baking soda and leave it overnight. Rinse off the solution using clean, lukewarm water, by wetting the fibers of the stained carpet. Now, rinse the soiled area with cool, clean water.
