Cat Urinary Tract Problems and Infections!

Refill the bowls daily. After application, scrub the area with a brush to loosen stains and remove odor. If you are a pet owner, chances are that your cat or dog has had at least one accident. For dried urine stain, the first and foremost tip for removing urine smell from carpet is, wetting the stained portion. Baking soda is useful to some extent, but is easily overpowered by most pet stains and odors. After rinsing the area thoroughly, absorb water by placing newspapers or old towel over it. Your vet may recommend pain medications to help reduce the urethral spasms and help urine pass. This toxin build-up will kill your cat in three to six days. Applying any other product may change the chemical composition and may make it more difficult for a professional cleaner to restore the affected area. Think twice about using steroids to help with swelling and pain.

This system consists of two kidneys, a bladder, sphincter muscles, two ureters and a urethra. Make sure to have a plastic garbage bag handy to dump the mess into. Loving cat owners do not want their cat to experience the excruciating pain of a cat urinary tract blockage. Enzyme products are also very safe for humans and pets and are recommended in homes with children. Herbal remedies help your cat ‘survive the cure’ and prevent a recurrence. It is sometimes possible to look at the back of the carpet where the urine stains are easy to see. These stains have to be removed through chemical action – to allow the original color to return to your carpet it may take several hours. Urine, feces and vomit stains are par for the course if you are the owner of an untrained puppy or kitten.

Keep plenty of fresh water in bowls throughout the house. In the event a large dog has – over time – deposited gallons of urine in the same area, more drastic steps may be required. In that instance, it is a good practice to treat the carpet with a general topical pet treatment. For fresh urine, alkaline based cleaning products are effective to remove offending odor; while for dried stain, you should exclusively use acidic products. So, the best practical solution is removing urine smell from the carpet as soon as possible. Any delay in carpet cleaning will cause the urine stains to penetrate deep in the fibers and padding, while creating a stinky atmosphere in the room. Urine odor is mostly caused due to uric acid and bacteria feeding on the pet’s urine. It is not unusual for the excessive urine to cause the carpet backing to delaminate requiring the replacement of the carpet.
